GA'S & ra'S
About this week’s lesson:
Many great ideas have come from changing our perspective—turning something around or seeing it in a new way. This week, we’ll learn about Jesus being baptized in the Jordan River, an event that seemed unusual and unexpected to John the Baptist. Yet Jesus willingly followed God’s plan, showing us a powerful example of humility and obedience.
January 11th – The Big Idea: Jesus is Humble.
Bible Story: Jesus is baptized. Matthew 3:13-17, Philippians 2:5-11
Our new memory verse:
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”
Philippians 2:9

Daniel Obeyed God (January 11th)
Daniel 1:1-20
The King of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar, ordered that some of the Israelites be removed from their homes and brought to Babylon after he defeated and captured the city of Jerusalem. They chose the young men from royal or noble families who were strong and good-looking. He ordered his food be used to feed these men while they trained for 3 years so that they could then serve the king. Daniel and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were a part of this group. Daniel knew that eating the king’s food was wrong and not what God wanted him to do. He asked the chief official to let them just vegetables and water for 10 days, and then they can see if they were too thin. The official had been worried that he would be in trouble with the king. After 10 days, the 4 men looked healthier than all who had been eating the king’s food. Even though it was the more difficult choice, Daniel obeyed God.
Text Truth: We should always obey God – even when others do not.
Memory Verse: “Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.” Proverbs 20:11
