Series: Extraordinary
We might think of inventions as really complicated science or high-tech gadgetry, but every invention started as something simple and ordinary. This week, we’ll see how Jesus invited ordinary people to be his first disciples, following him and doing extraordinary things alongside him. Their story shows us the amazing things that can happen in our lives.
February 4th – The Big Idea: Jesus calls us to follow.
Our new memory verse:
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”
Philippians 2:9
RAs: Pinewood Derby WAC Association Race will be February 15th at 3PM in our fellowship hall.

Daniel and the Lion’s Den (February 1st)
Daniel 6
Daniel was one of the top leaders under King Darius, which made other officials jealous. They tricked the king into signing a law that said no one could pray to any god or person except the king for 30 days. Even knowing the law, Daniel continued praying to God just as he always had. The officials caught him and demanded punishment. Though the king was distressed and tried to save Daniel, he was forced to throw him into a den of lions.
God protected Daniel through the night by shutting the lions’ mouths. In the morning, Daniel was found completely unharmed. The king then punished the men who had accused Daniel and made a new decree honoring Daniel’s God, declaring that He is the living God who rescues and saves.
Text Truth: Our sovereign God rescues and delivers those who have faith in Him.
Memory Verse: Proverbs 20:11
Peter and Cornelius (February 1st)
Acts 10:9-43
While staying in Joppa, Peter goes to the rooftop to pray and becomes hungry. He sees a vision of a large sheet coming down from heaven filled with animals that Jewish law considered unclean. A voice tells him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” Peter refuses, saying he has never eaten anything unclean. The voice replies, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” This happens three times, leaving Peter confused about the meaning.
At the same time, messengers arrive from Cornelius, a Roman centurion who fears God and has been told by an angel to send for Peter. The Holy Spirit tells Peter to go with them without hesitation. When Peter arrives at Cornelius’s house and sees a room full of Gentiles eager to hear from him, he understands the vision: God does not show favoritism. Peter shares the gospel — Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection — and explains that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins. This moment reveals that the message of Jesus is not just for Jews, but for people of every nation who turn to God.
Text Truth: Salvation is for everyone who repents of sin and trusts in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Big Idea: God’s creation shows his greatness!
Key Verse: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1
This lesson focuses on the word sovereign and explain that God rules over and is in control of everyone and everything! God made plants with instructions and ability to grow more of the same kind of plant. Animals and people have ability to have babies of their own kind. God didn’t just create everything and then let it go. He always rules over his creation and keeps it running.
